its been 2 or 3 years now sinse ive left LEES house on haight..in sf..
im gonna have to admit..i always really felt out of place trying to make dance floor techy stormers in that house.
that house is like an old pirate ship, it just didn't feel right blasting repetitive robot noiz out of it.
i guess you can say i let the house's spirit take over for that year i slowly veered off the l.f.o. bass line tweeks
and went on just recording all live instruments by my self bass,drums,piano,rhodes,my vocals and what ever was around the house so then i just imagined my self making a piece of music that i would of made in the 1900s 0r 1920s...
i took my self out of this time and be came some one i was back then that whole year i became the time traveler from the past
..mabee around the time where HENRY MILLER
was doing all his dirt and sleezing and
living and thinking his TROPIC OF CANCER...the whores,the drunks,the poets the writers the thieves,the lost loves the whole nine the full blown mess..

i wrote this song in NYC..on forsyth st between broom and grand in china town
mashed up on Dominican mash..and cheep wine
i ran this TANGO accordion loop some say it sounds Russian..and some say it sounds Argentinian.
what ever the origin,it made me come to life..

ive been caring him with me observing the future admiring what crazy
shit that society has come up with..planes,,electric trains,computers,

from manhatten,
she was and still is one of the most talented girls ive met in nyc
we were dating for a short bit..
i was broke,out of job,no place to live,and shit out of luck,
she was the best thing to happen for me at that time
we were both crazy as fuck,and out of awer fucking minds..
she was classy,i was a bum,she had a nice job, and i was struggling for on
let just say i wasn't ready for some one like her in my life at that time.
......you could say this is an apology to her:)

from the BEATLES..butt the unfinished verstion that i LOVE so much..

WOWSIGH..this is a drum in bass mix i did back in the day..when i was living in sf on fell st..living with sage for the first time,working as a bike messenger down town,husslin to get to the ranks of where i eneded up a year later that mothafucka ufo!from the phunckateck crew..
i was a totally different person then..i was like 20 wild as fuck didn't give a fuck and did fuck all i wanted at the fullest and fucking having it all the whole way no matter what they all said i wouldn't change that life for one bit... its fucking nuts,i laff at my selff just thinking of the things and pepele i took on with full on love and energy LOL!...i remember,i took my mix tapes dead serious back then..it was like making a fucking tune now..but with all the intensity of the live element like
if you fucked up halff way you had to start all over untill the shit was mixed right..this mix tape probably took me 3 or 4 trys. i still hadn't produced any songs yet..later on that year id meet up with friend Jamie lemoine and produce songs like future moments and enemy infiltration,wich put me on the international circuit of drum in bass djs and a west coast pioneer of this new sound,
drum in bass was the new sound and we were in love in every way...oh and there was BLADE RUNNER the movie...that was my inspiration my life:)

I remember when kimi played me the keys to this song..one night while jamming with Cris Stanly-(ECHO)
i remember we played it for about a whole hour ,over and over again.it's was insane..or i went insane or more insain then what i am now:)
it was as if she had made the song that i always wanted to make but dident have the know how to pull it out of my selff.it seemed so
natural to me..the way the melodies' rhythm pattern dance into each other,the coice of keys i still dont know what they are
then she sang me the lyrics while we all kept playing
it was pure oozing bliss..beauty,sadness,hope,memories,love,fucking everything..
so we got together one night and recorded the muisc parts in san francisco, met up later in new york and recorded the vocals,
and i ened up mixing it down here in costa rica and giving it the finishing touches..
kimi always has this thing over me.or lets say in me. every time she brings me an idea for a song that she wants us
to work on,i ALWAYS know what to do instantly,as if i brought it to my self in mirror image as a girl..
it's so creepy sometimes but really thats why we get along so much
i knew that the minute i saw her that one night when she was just 18..every one knew it..

I was looking throo my files and found these old flyers that i drew up a while ago
from the drum n bass days in SAN FRANSCICO the party was called EKLECTIC
it was one of the most popular partys back in the mid 90s and early 2 thousands.
its really cool how i started this drawing technic on fashion magazines
out lining shadows and colers and folowing the body shape
lines obsessed with sex,shape,beauty and style.
i guess nothing has changed for me..im still on the same trip
its just now ive met most of the models that ive drawn on sigh
and i use thiner sharpies now and really come at the way i draw
in a very minimal sleeker style in lines..let metal, more insect sex:)

So this used to be my place in the haight district..actully belvedere st near villans.
i was living with my friends LEE,LOGAN,and DAVID..
what a group, what a life i was living,
a small but very cozy room,
it was total madness living in that part of san francisco,
the bums the hippies the crusties and not too mention the hot ladies:)
around this time i really took a liking to playing guitar and bass..
mixing my acoustic and electronic elements together in my muisc..later on to just tring to keep it not sounding electronic.
and also really getting into the beatles..thanks to the help of MR LEE the mostash man..not to mention logan the mad genius the things he was doing with electronics was truly amezing.
at this time i was djing at the beauty bar every thursday night with lee bar tending ,man the messy after parties in this room with all the right and wrong people doing all the right and wrong things.
but truly a really good time..living there was part of my growth in muisc, art and the world that im still getting to know...
this photo was taken by my good friend Rohini Moradi she really captures me in that moment just right..me in my room..
later that year i left the haight and moved on to costa rica,it was a bummer but it was my time to figure out my self and my costa rican side:)

i don't know how i went on about remixing her cover of cover of Siouxsie & The Banshees' "Happy Haus."
But as soon as she had sent me the separated parts i was all over them vampires on virgin girl necks!
around this time i was getting ready to move out of San Francisco back to NEW YORK..i remember having to go to as couple of trouble and bass parties to get that exact bass vibe "fucked off wild wabble wabble fuckery" ..for some reason it took me ages to find the right drums..with the right programing.i had to go out side and beat the pattern out on a fucking bench next to a garbage can..soon a ran back up to the stodio and the dam thing came to life..funny as soon as i was on that god roll you get when your making a tune ...the biggest thunder broke out on to the city "the gods are approving!!" it was a thunder storm on its way into the city..so fuck it..i kept beating the life out of the monitors im shure no one noticed..what the hell! the skys making tones of noiz too...any way take a listen and download if you like !!

i really didn't do much to the song other then add some drums up in the mix,lengthen the intro for the dj,added some heavy tombs in there and cut the longs ass guitar solo MR ENO went off on... and ended it with a square wave bass line mimicking the original,i did the RE ED it about a year ago for my dj show at PS1 warm ups..and yea....all the galls just looked up at me and screamed ahhhhhhhh!!!!! i love this SONG..aand so do i...that's why i didn't get all crafty with the remix..or RE EDIT what ever..simple but effective

Here is a DJ MIX I put together around the time I left San Francisco, which was a month ago...

It's funny... every time I start getting ready to head back to New York, I end up watching that movie HACKERS like 80 times!

There's something special about that movie; it was made in the mid 90's... must be nostalgia, I guess.

Anyway, the whole time I kept working on this mix, I had in mind an idea of some person, some every-day hared core worker waking up every morning, going to work... dealing with the every day hustle and bustle of this place... the cross lights, the traffic, the trains, the loud noises, the smell,the ups and downs, the all-out rat race goin on in this concrete jungle we all live in...

I discovered him on dubstepforum.com and downloaded his tune, and instantly said to my self: "BLOOD CLAT WHATA GWAN WITH BABALON!!..this blood is good!! The B line just dances all up and down the block, with the cleanest percussion programming, not to mention where the hell does this Brit get all that Latin calypso flavor!! WHAT! Reminds me of what I use to hear in Limon, Costa Rica around carnival.
